About Me
My name is Aslaug Pernille M. D. Nordli. I was born the 16th of August 1977 in Sunndalsøra, a small town in central Norway.
I work within classical painting, mainly still-life, but also portrait and figure-painting. My main media is oil on canvas. My wish is to promote the beautiful, peaceful and good part of what art can be like. I believe that's what we are created to do.
I studied music for two years (1997-99) at Høyskolen i Staffeltsgate. Autumn 2000 I attended Kunst & Design College in Asker and studied art there till spring 2002. After that I started as a student with former teacher at SHKS, Oddmund Raudberget, and worked together with him for two years. From there I went to Australia for one year, painting and selling my paintings there, and returned to Norway summer 2005. Early in 2006 I received a scholarship to study at The Art Students League in New York. I went there in March 2006, and specialized in portrait and figure painting/drawing under instruction from Harvey Dinnerstein, Costa Vavagiakis and Frank Mason.
In September 2007 I went back to The Art Students League of NY after receiving another
scholarship to continue my studies there, under instruction from Harvey Dinnerstein,
Costa Vavagiakis, Frank Porcu and Michael Grimaldi. I stayed in New York through December 2009.
In January 2010 I moved back to Oslo, where I now live and work.
Feel free to get in touch with me for any questions or if you're interested in seeing my
work.
